Frequently Asked Questions
Planning a wedding or a special event involves dozens of decisions. Choosing the right makeup artist should not add stress to the process. Below, I have answered the questions that brides and clients across Chandigarh, Mohali, Panchkula, and Zirakpur ask me most often. If your question is not listed here, feel free to reach out directly.
Booking & Availability
How far in advance should I book my bridal makeup?
For peak wedding season (November to February), book at least 3 months in advance. Popular weekend dates fill up by July-August. Summer and monsoon dates have more flexibility, but booking early guarantees your preferred date. I serve Chandigarh, Mohali, Panchkula, and Zirakpur.
Do you travel to my venue?
Yes. I am a freelance makeup artist and I come to you — your home, hotel, or wedding venue anywhere in the tricity area. This includes Chandigarh, Mohali, Panchkula, Zirakpur, Kharar, Landran, and Derabassi at no extra travel charge. For locations outside the tricity, a small travel fee applies.
Can I book you for multiple wedding functions?
Absolutely. Most bridal clients book me for mehendi, sangeet, wedding day, and reception. Multi-function packages are available at a combined rate. Each look is planned separately during our consultation so every event feels distinct.
What is your cancellation policy?
I understand plans change. Cancellations made 30 days or more before the event receive a full refund of the advance. Cancellations within 30 days forfeit the advance booking amount. Date changes are accommodated whenever possible.
How do I book a consultation?
Contact me through the website contact form, WhatsApp at +91 82645 67156, or Instagram DM @_makeupbyshivani__. Consultations can be done in person in Chandigarh or over video call for clients in other cities.
Pricing & Packages
How much does bridal makeup cost?
Bridal makeup packages start from ₹13,000 for HD bridal makeup and go up to ₹20,000 for luxury airbrush packages. Every bridal package includes a pre-wedding trial session, day-of makeup and hairstyling, dupatta draping, and a touch-up kit.
What is included in a bridal package?
The complete bridal package includes: a consultation to discuss your vision, a trial session 4-6 weeks before the wedding, day-of HD or airbrush makeup application, complete hairstyling, dupatta draping assistance, and a touch-up kit to carry through the day. Multi-event packages are also available.
Do you offer family and bridesmaid packages?
Yes. I offer packages for mothers, sisters, and bridesmaids. For groups of 3 or more, I can either start earlier or bring an assistant. We plan the timing during the consultation so everyone is ready without feeling rushed.
Is there an extra charge for early morning starts?
No extra charge for early starts. Many wedding functions, especially pheras, begin early in the morning. I routinely start at 4-5 AM for morning ceremonies.
Makeup Techniques & Products
What is the difference between HD and airbrush makeup?
HD (High Definition) makeup uses liquid and cream products applied with brushes and sponges. It gives a natural, skin-like finish that looks beautiful both in person and in photographs. Airbrush makeup uses a fine mist sprayed through an airbrush gun, creating an ultra-smooth, flawless finish that is especially long-lasting. Airbrush tends to last longer in heat and humidity, while HD gives a more dewy, natural look. We decide which technique suits you best during the trial session.
What brands and products do you use?
I use a curated selection of high-end brands including MAC, Kryolan, Huda Beauty, Charlotte Tilbury, and Bobbi Brown. The specific products are chosen based on your skin type, the season, and the look we are creating. I do not use a one-size-fits-all kit. Every product is selected for your skin specifically.
Will my makeup last all day?
Yes. I use long-wear formulas, setting sprays, and waterproof eye products designed to last 12+ hours. For summer weddings, I add mattifying primers and extra setting layers. The trial session lets me test exactly how products perform on your skin. I also provide a touch-up kit for minor refreshes during the day.
Do you do hairstyling as well?
Yes. Every bridal and event package includes complete hairstyling. Whether you want loose curls, an elegant updo, a braided look, or traditional styling with your dupatta, I handle the full look from makeup to hair.
The Trial Session
Why is a trial session important?
The trial is where we test everything: foundation shade, eye look, lip colour, contouring, and hairstyle. It tells me how your skin reacts to specific products — some skin types oxidise certain foundations, others have dry patches that need special prep. Without a trial, there are unknowns. With a trial, your wedding day is stress-free because you already know exactly how you will look.
When should I schedule my trial?
Ideally 4-6 weeks before the wedding. This gives us time to make changes if needed and even schedule a second trial if you want to explore different looks. Do not push the trial to the last week — you want breathing room, not last-minute stress.
What should I bring to my trial session?
Bring your outfit fabric swatch or photos, jewellery references, and any inspiration images. The more context I have about your outfit colour, jewellery style, and venue lighting, the better the final result. If you have a mood board from Pinterest or Instagram, bring that too.
Can I change my look after the trial?
Absolutely. That is the whole point of the trial. If something does not feel right — the lip shade, the eye intensity, the overall vibe — we adjust. Many brides make small tweaks after seeing photos of the trial look. Some request a completely different direction. Both are perfectly normal.
